The Safe Haven STEAM Academy (formerly STEM Academy) was established in September 2019 and the Breaking the Code Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) launched in October 2022. The programs expose elementary and middle school students to careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through project-based and inquiry learning activities. A team of dedicated teachers and program assistants work with students to increase motivation and achievement in STEAM careers and the program engages parents with strategies to support their children in mathematics and science fields of study. Areas of study include Astronautics, Biology, Chemistry, Coding & Web Development, Engineering & Architecture, Entrepreneurship, Hydroponics, Music Production, Recreation & Wellness, and Robotics.
